Inlays & Onlays
At Creditview Dental in Mississauga, we offer porcelain inlays and onlays as a type of cosmetic dental restoration to treat moderate levels of decay or damage while maintaining a pleasing appearance.
What are Inlays & Onlays?
Inlays and onlays are indirect fillings that are made outside of the mouth and then used to fill decay or damage, generally on a molar or premolar. They are both highly aesthetic and minimally invasive.

Inlays & Onlays
At Creditview Dental, we use porcelain inlays and onlays when a tooth is not damaged enough to require a dental crown, but there is not enough tooth structure for a normal filling.
Inlays are fitted into a space in a tooth, while onlays extends to replace a cusp, or the elevated bump of a tooth.
Unlike a regular filling, which is applied directly to the cavity by the dentist in one office visit, inlays and onlays are created in a dental laboratory and then bonded to your tooth by a dentist.
The Process
It generally takes two visits to your dental office to place an inlay or onlay. After all decay or damage is removed, a custom restoration will be made for you.
In the meantime, your dentist will place a temporary filling on your tooth to protect it while your inlay or onlay is being made.
Once your inlay or onlay is ready, it is bonded into place by your dentist who will ensure it feels comfortable and looks natural.
