Find out how this non-invasive procedure could easily hide common dental flaws.
What is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is a non-invasive and painless procedure that repairs minor dental problems. If you are dealing with a chipped, cracked, discolored or misshapen tooth, or you have gaps between teeth, dental bonding is a great way to hide these problems and improve the color, shape and length of your teeth.
The Dental Bonding Experience
During your dental bonding treatment your Mississauga family dentist uses a tooth-colored resin made from plastic that is applied to problem areas of the tooth or teeth. Before applying the resin, we will lightly roughen the surface of the tooth and put a special liquid on it to help the resin better stick to the tooth.
Then we will apply the resin, being sure to mold and shape it to achieve the desired look. Once you are happy with its appearance, we will place a special light over the tooth to bond the resin to the tooth permanently.
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Dental Bonding
What makes dental bonding an attractive treatment option for many is that it is one of the fastest and least expensive cosmetic procedures for improving the overall look of your smile. Most dental bonding procedures can be performed in one dental visit, unlike other, more in-depth cosmetic options like dental crowns or veneers. Dental bonding won’t offer the same drastic results that crowns and veneers can, and is not as durable. Bonding is, however, a great way to tweak and revamp minor imperfections and problem areas of your smile.
